Weather in Malaysia
Malaysia enjoys a tropical climate year-round, offering warm temperatures and occasional rainfall.
Kuala Lumpur: The capital stays hot and humid with average daytime temperatures between 27°C to 33°C (81°F to 91°F). Sudden rain showers are common, so carrying an umbrella is a good idea.
Genting Highlands / Cameron Highlands: These hill stations are cooler, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F). Evenings can get chilly, so light sweaters or jackets are recommended.
Overall, Malaysia’s weather is pleasantly warm but can be unpredictable—expect bursts of rain followed by bright sunshine.

ATMs are widely available in cities and towns, and Visa and MasterCard are commonly accepted at hotels, restaurants, and shopping centres. Carrying some local cash is recommended, especially for use in rural areas or small shops.
1 USD ≈ 4.75 MYR (as of October 2025).
Telephone Communications
When traveling to Malaysia, the country code is +60. To call Malaysia from abroad, dial +60 before the local number. Ensure international roaming is activated or purchase a Malaysian SIM card for convenient communication during your stay.
Dress Code for Visiting Religious Sites in Malaysia
When visiting mosques and religious sites in Malaysia, it’s important to follow local dress codes:
Men: Should wear long pants and avoid sleeveless shirts.
Women: Should cover their shoulders and knees. Wearing a long skirt or trousers is preferred, and women should cover their hair when entering mosques.
Many mosques provide scarves or robes at the entrance, but bringing your own is recommended to show respect for local customs
