Weather in Maldives

The Maldives enjoys a warm tropical climate throughout the year, making it an ideal destination for beach lovers and water activities.

Dry Season (November to April): Expect plenty of sunshine, calm seas, and temperatures ranging from 27°C to 32°C (80°F to 90°F) — perfect for snorkeling, diving, and island hopping.

Wet Season (May to October): Characterized by brief tropical showers and occasional strong winds, but the rain rarely lasts long, and the islands remain lush and vibrant.

The weather in the Maldives is generally pleasant year-round, so you can enjoy paradise whether you visit during sun-soaked days or refreshing tropical rains.

Visa Information

The currency in the Maldives is the Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR). While US dollars are widely accepted in resorts and tourist areas, local transactions and smaller purchases are often made in Rufiyaa.

ATMs are available in Malé and major inhabited islands, and Visa and MasterCard are commonly accepted in resorts, hotels, and larger shops. However, it’s advisable to carry some local cash for small shops, cafés, or local island visits.

When traveling to the Maldives, the country code is +960. To call the Maldives from abroad, dial the code before the local number. It’s recommended to activate international roaming or purchase a local SIM card from providers like Dhiraagu or Ooredoo for smooth communication and reliable internet access during your stay.

  • Documents: Guests must carry a valid passport with at least 6 months of validity and a confirmed return or onward ticket.
  • Visa: Indians are eligible for a free 30-day visa on arrival in the Maldives.
